Major Changes Have taken place in The Treatment of Corona Infected Patients
Published On:May 18, 2020
The Union Health Ministry has recently changed the protocols for treatment of the patients who are infected with the Coronavirus. Also, the government has now prepared new guidelines in cases ranging from discharge of patients to quarantine. After this, many questions are arising in the minds of common people regarding treatment.
What are the factors that brought changes in the discharge policy?
Several changes have been made in many countries. On the grounds of the test-based strategy for the discharge of the patients, the symptom based or time-based strategy was changed. A lab-based review of the ICMR showed that after the initial RTPCR test, the positives were negative within 10 days of the patient's arrival. Recent studies also show that after the viral peak, it starts recovering in 7 days.
After the changed rules, is there any risk of infection after the patient is discharged?
The current evidence does not indicate that transmission occurs after the patient is discharged. After discharge, the patient has to follow the rules of home isolation for 7 days.
Does the patient need to undergo a test after home isolation?
In pre-simptomatic or mild confirmed case, no test is needed after home isolation. The Health Ministry is constantly changing the rules in terms of circumstances. Similarly, the rules have also been changed to wear masks and PPE kits earlier.
